About the Author
Harper Monroe, pen name and fictional representation in HR on the Rocks, is a Human Resources veteran who has almost seen it all. Her impending retirement from HR proves everyone reaches burnout and has their breaking point. She now plans to devote her vast corporate experience to mentoring new HR professionals, indulging in the occasional Alaskan cruise, walking dogs, and starting a baking blog.

Harper shies away from personal social media because she knows about the many ways people use it to appease their curiosity about others online. On her blog, she posts about the many things she wishes someone had told her before she entered HR, and the things she wishes she had said throughout her HR career. Sometimes she just vents.

Harper Monroe took the safe path and went to college, then later earned her Certificate in HR Management and another in Employee Performance Coaching, and spent more than two decades inside the world of HR — moving up the ranks, learning things the hard way, and discovering that while college and certifications are useful, none of them really prepare you for what HR looks like once real people and real problems enter the picture.
